Main directions of scientific activity

A.V. Puzanov is a leading specialist in the fields of soil science, biogeochemistry, geoecology of terrestrial ecosystems, formation of water resources, assessment of the impact of mining industry on the environment, ecological and biogeochemical assessment of rocket and space activities in Russia. A series of his works in these areas has made a significant contribution to the identification of general regularities of chemical elements distribution in natural and anthropogenic landscapes. The results of his research are important for the development of new approaches in biogeochemical research methods. They are widely used in solving regional ecological and biogeochemical problems, including those related to natural and anthropogenic pollution of ecosystems with heavy metals, man-made radionuclides, components of rocket fuels and their impact on the environment and public health. A.V. Puzanov revealed geochemical features of the Quaternary weathering crust of the mountainous territories of Central Asia, regularities of migration and accumulation of trace elements and natural radionuclides in the cascade landscape-geochemical systems of the Altai-Sayan mountainous country, assessed the radioecological situation in the basins of large rivers (Ob, Yenisei), gave an ecological and biogeochemical assessment of rocket and space activities in Russia, in particular, during the construction of the Vostochny cosmodrome.

Under the guidance and direct participation of A.V. Puzanov, research projects supported by grants of the state scientific funds: the Russian Foundation for Basic Research and the Russian Humanitarian Scientific Foundation; international projects; programmes of environmental safety of launches of Proton, Soyuz and Angara launch vehicles launched from Baikonur and Plesetsk cosmodromes; projects of the programme "Development of Russian Cosmodromes for 2006-2015" (Vostochny cosmodrome); projects of the programme "Development of Russian Cosmodromes for 2006-2015" (Vostochny cosmodrome). (Vostochny Cosmodrome). The co-researcher is the responsible executor from the IWEP SB RAS: international and interdisciplinary project "KULUNDA" (KULUNDA), the project of bilateral Russian-German cooperation in the field of education and science Rus11_08 "Climate change impacts in boreal and subarctic ecosystems on water quality and soil functions".

A.V. Puzanov has published more than 390 scientific papers, including monographs and publications in scientific journals and conference proceedings. A.V. Puzanov's works are published in highly rated journals included in the international scientific citation systems Web of Science and Scopus.

Scientific and organisational activities

A.V. Puzanov is active in scientific-organisational and social-scientific activity. He regularly participates in the organisation of international, Russian and regional scientific conferences as a member of the organising committee, is a member of the editorial boards of the journals BULLETIN AB RGS and Contemporary Problems of Ecology; he is registered in the federal register of experts of scientific and technical sphere; he is an expert of the Russian Foundation for Basic Research; he works in dissertation councils at IWEP SB RAS, ISA SB RAS, Altai State University. He is a supervisor of postgraduate students, ten candidate theses and one doctoral thesis were defended under his supervision.
